We are happy to announce the release of React Router v7!
This release is a huge step forward for the React Router project, and we're excited to see what you build with it. In fact, this issue of the Remix newsletter is primarily focused on highlighting great React Router resources from the team and community.
What's new in React Router v7
We are heavily invested in React and React Router at Shopify, as are millions of users around the world. We are also heavily invested in Remix. This release brings everything from the Remix project into React Router, which now means React Router is a multi-strategy router for React. So no matter how you're using React Router, as just a library within your own architecture or as a full-blown framework (ala Remix), React Router v7 has you covered.
For users coming from React Router v6, the upgrade is incredibly simple.
For users coming from Remix, we've added a new Vite plugin that gives you all the same APIs and benefits you've been enjoying for years with Remix, plus new features like static pre-rendering and automatic type-safety.
We have a lot more features we're excited to get into your hands now v7 is out. We're also excited about what this means for some future libraries we plan to provide to the web community. Stay tuned for more news on that front.

Official React Router v7 templates
Before highlighting a few community starters, we want to make sure you're aware of our official React Router v7 templates.
We have ready to deploy templates for:
- Node (react-router-server, custom server, and with postgres)
- Cloudflare (basic and with D1)

Forge 42 base-stack
The team at Forge 42 has created a base-stack for their projects. It includes a basic setup for React Router projects with:
- TailwindCSS
- i18n support (client and server)
- Vitest (unit tests)
- Biome (linter & formatter)

- Hono server

Edge-first Starter Kit
Longtime contributor and community member, Sergio Xalambrí, has created a full-stack starter kit for Edge-first applications built with React on top of Cloudflare Developer Platform. This kit is built to get the most out of deploying a React Router application on Cloudflare, with features like:
- Cloudflare Workers
- Bun for package management and testing
- Cloudflare D1 for database
- Query builder and DB migrations with Drizzle
- Queues with Cloudflare Queues
- Scheduled tasks with Cloudflare Workers Cron Triggers

Underkill Stack
Another long time community member, Jacob Paris, has taken it upon himself correct the narrative that Remix React Router is overkill for small projects. With just 8 files, it gives you:

Open Source Libraries
The great thing about adding the framework features of Remix to React Router is that many 3rd party libraries have already added support for React Router v7. Here are a few awesome, battle-tested libraries that have already updated to support React Router v7:
